ANUSARA YOGA

We have been studying Anusara Yoga intensively since 2008. Studying Anusara Yoga has provided fertile ground for us to grow our practice, our teaching, and our lives. We have fallen in love with this elegant, and effective method of teaching yoga and although we are not yet certified as Anusara teachers, we intend to be one day!

Anusara (a-nu-sar-a) means “to be in the flow”, “flowing with grace”, “the soul in the flow with the universe”, “following your heart.”

Anusara Yoga, founded by John Friend, is a potent and elegant system of practicing and teaching yoga that emphasizes Attitude, Alignment, and Action.

“The central philosophy of Anusara Yoga is based on the view that everything is supreme Consciousness - nothing exists that is not supreme Consciousness. It encompasses a vision of totality in which each person is seen as equally divine in every part-body, mind and spirit...It is through the limitations of the body/mind that we discover that our true nature is boundless goodness and vast luminous Consciousness.”

ACADEMY OF AWARENESS

We began studying with don Miguel Ruiz, Toltec Master and author of The Four Agreements, several years ago. Practicing the Toltec arts of Awareness, Transformation, and Intent have taught us how to consciously create beauty and recognize our lives as our own masterpieces that we co-create with the Divine. We have also found that this system is highly compatible with our yoga practice. Don Miguel and his family have recently started an online training program called the Academy of Awareness.
