art of vinyasa: creatively linking body, mind, and spirit with breath and intention, vinyasa flow yoga is meditation in motion

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Ashtanga Primary Series (Marfa):
The Ashtanga Primary Series as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is a vigorous and dynamic yoga practice comprised of a set series of asanas. This class is very challenging (expect to sweat!), but also very rewarding! Once the student learns the basic tenets of this practice and the asana series, it truly becomes a meditation in motion. The emphasis of this class is learning to safely connect to and move with the breath throughout the practice, aided by using the bandhas (internal yogic locks), and dristi (soft-focused gaze, specific to each asana). Aimee completed Ashtanga Primary Series Teacher Training with Manju Pattabhi Jois in 2005 and has also studied Ashtanga Vinyasa with David Swenson, and several other teachers.

Meditation & Pranayama (by request & for donations): This 30-60 minute class is suitable for everyone and focuses on various forms of meditation, gentle breath work, and subtle energy work.

Power Hour Lunchtime Yoga (Alpine - coming soon!)

Restorative Flow (Marfa): This hour long class is a deeply nourishing and luxurious practice suitable for just about anyone who is comfortable getting onto a mat on the floor. This class is designed to reduce stress in the mind and body, increase flexibility and the ability to relax, and promote a general sense of well-being. Aimee was introduced to
Restorative Flow Yoga by one of her teachers, Donna Belk.

Slow Flow & Yin (Alpine & soon in Marathon): This class is a combination of connecting to and moving meditatively with the breath through purposefully sequenced, classical yoga poses, inspired by Viniyoga teachings, and
Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga includes passively holding asanas for long periods of time, allowing us to reach new depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, and an increased flow of energy, by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. Slow Flow & Yin is a gentle, but deep approach to hatha yoga an is suitable for both beginner's and more experienced students who want to go deeper into their practice.

Story Time Yoga for Kids (Alpine - coming soon!)

Vinyasa Flow (Alpine & Marfa): Vinyasa flow yoga classes are playful and dynamic and are designed to increase strength, flexibility, and endurance; energize and inspire your personal practice; relax your body; and calm your mind. Like the Ashtanga class, the emphasis of this class is learning to safely connect to and move with the breath throughout the practice. Aimee draws from the many schools and styles of yoga that she has studied and creates a different sequence of poses for each Vinyasa Flow class, with varying levels of intensity and including an eclectic, but purposefully planned mix of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Viniyoga, Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Pilates & more. Aimee has studied various forms of vinyasa yoga with Doug Swenson, Sharon Gannon and David Life (Jivamukti), Jonny Kest, Gary Kraftsow, and Max Strom, among others.

Aimee is available for private group classes, too! Please inquire for more information.

I started practicing yoga with Aimee when she started teaching at Big Bend Yoga in February 2007. Aimee brought Vinyasa Flow to Alpine and it was very exciting to have the exposure to a new style and class format of a vibrant ninety minutes of non stop yoga. Aimee brings energy, knowledge and a deep commitment to yoga as lifestyle to her classes. I have benefitted from an increase in strength and stamina along with the depth of my understanding of yoga as exercise and philosophy. This has encouraged me to develop my own commitment to yoga as a life practice. Never teaching exactly the same sequence twice, Aimee is always presenting new techniques and ideas as she develops her own practice and continues her yoga education around the country with exciting and advanced teachers. We have been blessed to have Aimee choose to teach and live in our community.

To sum up: I love Aimee's yoga classes!
